The College Application Process at Coon Rapids High School

For every college that you apply to, the following steps must be completed:

1. Apply Online

Note: Every college will have information on their website on how to start the application. Remember, if you are a senior in high school you will always apply as a first-year student (even if you have done PSEO or other college level courses).

Some colleges will have multiple ways you can apply. The two most common options are listed below: 

• Directly through the college website. Often referred to as the institution application. I highly recommend this type of application!

• The Common Application, which is accepted by nearly 900 schools, including some colleges located outside the U.S., helps streamline one essential part of the admission process for students. Through the platform, first-time and transfer applicants can apply to multiple colleges at once. Students only have to fill out details that most schools require, including name, address, parental employment, education and extracurricular activities, one time. 3. Request Letter of Rec(s) to be sent (check on college website to see if it is required)
