SUN Bucks program available for free/reduced-eligible students
(06/04/2025) The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced the SUN Bucks program. This income-based food support program provides families $120 per eligible school-aged child to buy groceries when school is out for the summer.

It's more than just free meals! Apply for educational benefits for the 2024-25 school year
(07/26/2024) All Anoka-Hennepin families are encouraged to apply for the educational benefits program for the 2024-25 school year. A new application must be submitted each school year. The enrollment window for the 2024-25 school year begins Aug. 1, 2024.

Sunrise classroom addition now in operation

Sunrise teacher Pauline Engebretson named KS95 Teacher of the Week
(03/09/2023) A teacher in the district for 24 years, Pauline Engebretson of Sunrise Elementary School, has been selected as a KS95 Teacher of the Week. She accepted the award in front of her third grade class Tuesday, March 7 from KS95 on-air talent “Hutch.”

Sunrise Elementary third graders raise $2,400 to help save our oceans
(01/28/2022) It’s nearly 1,000 miles to the nearest ocean from Sunrise Elementary School, but that fact didn’t deter a group of third graders from creating the group, Seas of Glory. This week, the group collected donations and raised $2,400 to help save our oceans.

Sunrise teacher earns National Board Certification
(01/05/2022) Sunrise Elementary teacher Jennifer Keller strived to be more than just a second grade teacher and has pushed herself beyond the expectations to become a National Board Certified Teacher. Through the process, Keller believes her approach to teaching has reached a deeper level.

School Board approves $8.1 million budget reduction for 2026-27
(12/15/2025) The Anoka-Hennepin School Board approved an $8.1 million budget reduction and reallocation plan at its December 8 meeting, a decision that completes a multi-year, three-phased process to provide budget stability ahead of the 2026-27 school year.

Updated district and school websites coming Dec. 18
(12/12/2025) The change is required by the district’s current website vendor to ensure the platform is technically supported in the new year. This is a renewal of the website contract within the current budget parameters.
