    STEAM Student Leadership Team

    Who is it for?

    • Students who have been nominated by STEAM teachers and staff for demonstrating the skills and mindset that define the STEAM program:
      • Creativity
      • Drive to learn and grow
      • Critical problem solving
      • Ability to connect with others
    • Students are also welcomed to apply without a nomination.

     

    What do they do?

    • Serve as Makerspace Mentors during advisement, before and after school, and during special events
    • Participate in outreach events in the community during and outside of school day
    • Attend planning and training meetings
    • Compete in STEAM related events and shows

     

    What are the benefits of involvement for the student?

    • Develop skills for success in college and career
    • Make connections for the future
    • Participate in resume building activities
    • Get in-depth training and experience in the Makerspace
    • More access to career exploration opportunities
    • Opportunity to share Maker-experience and develop leadership skills

     

    What are the benefits for the STEAM Program?

    • Build a mentoring program to support students
    • Increase the opportunities for students to develop interests further
    • Better ability to respond to student interest and need

     

    When do they meet?

    • After school meetings twice per month
    • During advisement on travel days
    • As needed for outreach and competitions
