• Tech-Ed & PLTW students at Oak View are required to pass various machine safety tests after they receive instruction by their teacher. The tests that are required vary depending on which course the student takes.

    They must first watch safety videos to introduct them to each machine:

     

    Then students are required to read through all of the safety rules for that piece of machinery

    • Bandsaw Safety rules
    • Jig/Scroll Saw Safety rules
    • Drill Press Safety rules
    • Sanders rules
    • Router Safety rules
    • Miter Saw Safety rules
    • Table Saw Safety rules

     

    Finally, they must get a live demonstration from their teacher to demonstrate how to use the machinery properly for their project.

     

    Then they are allowed to take the required safety test for that machine:

    • 0 wrong = they passed that safety test
    • They must take a retake test if they get more than 10% wrong
    • If no mre than 10% wrong, they can pass that machine test by writing a sentence on the backside of their answer sheet to explain what the correct answer is, and WHY that is the correct answer.
