Minnesota Studies 6 & PRIDE

 

I am excited to work with our sixth graders again this year!  Minnesota Studies is an exciting and interesting course where we learn all about the state in which we live -- history, geography, government, and economics.

 

2020-2021 is my 34th year of teaching. I love teaching sixth graders and teaching social studies!  I have been at Oak View since the school opened in 1996, and taught at Fred Moore Middle School (now known as Anoka Middle School) and McKinley Elementary before that.  I have a master's degree in teaching, a bachelor's degree in teaching, and a bachelor's degree in business, all from the University of Minnesota. I am a long-time member of the Minnesota Historical Society, and I love Minnesota history and visiting Minnesota historic sites -- I have been to every historic site sponsored by the Minnesota Historical Society (all 26!), plus many other Minnesota historic places that are not managed by the Society.

 

In my free time I enjoy riding my bike (and sometimes my unicycle), hiking, playing disc golf, baking of all sorts, but especially baking bread, and reading (check out my reading list in the link to the left).  I am an active blood donor, currently over 29 gallons donated to Memorial Blood Centers. I am married, and my wife and I have three wonderful adult children, who are married to three wonderful son- and daughters-in-law. I have a special love for Coke Zero and Caribou Coffee, and I am a postcard collector.
