Letter of Recommendation Request for College Application
- Ask your recommender in person if they would be willing to write you a letter of recommendation.
- Follow these directions. You will use Scoir to send your letters of recommendation.
- If you are applying through the Common Application - still request your recommendation letters through Scoir, NOT through the Common App.
- Things to consider before asking for a letter:
- Does the college require a letter of recommendation?
- How well does this recommender know you? Bonus if they teach a subject related to your potential major or if it was a rigorous course.
- When do you need your letter of recommendation? (Your recommender will need at least 2-3 weeks to write a good letter).
- Complete the Letter of Recommendation Request Form and share with your recommender.
- Thank your recommender either through an email or handwritten note.
