GEARS means "Getting Excellent Academic Results for All Students". GEARS is an opportunity to challenge students and build foundational skills in language arts and math.
We have GEARS time (language arts and math) most every day during the school year. The focus of GEARS instruction and GEARS groups change with student needs. GEARS Groups are small instructional groups formed based on student data. Classroom, supplemental, special education, and ESL teachers may teach small GEARS groups during GEARS time. For example, if a math GEARS cycle focus is structuring numbers, some student groups may be structuring numbers to 5, some to 10, some to 20 or more, etc.
