    One of the greatest things about being in first grade is learning to read for fluency, comprehension, and pleasure.  As your child develops these lifelong skills at school, it is very important to practice them as much as possible at home.

    Book orders will be submitted online. Ordering Scholastic books online is fast and easy.  When I send the book orders home, I will include an online class activation code and a date by which all orders must be submitted online.  Books will be delivered to Monroe (it usually takes 1-2 weeks for books to arrive) and sent home with students.  When you order online, our class earns points for FREE books for our classroom library.  These books make a huge impact on our entire class and on your child.

    Studies show that when children pick their own books to read, their motivation and academic success improve.  If you choose to order books, you may order as much or as little as you wish. Please do not feel obligated to order anything.
