8th Grade Earth Science Grading Policy

Grade Breakdown:

Assessments - 60%

Projects - 20%

Classwork – 10%

Common Summative Assessment – 10%

Assessments: this category would consist of graded quizzes and tests. These are taken individually and taken during the school day.  This is where students show what they know after practice.  All tests and quizzes can be retaken after additional practice.

Projects:  this category includes major project like the STEM project, Element Project, Weather Data Graphing Project and others.  There will be 2 projects on average per trimester with the STEM project overlapping both Tri 1 & 2.  All projects are mandatory. Students will be given time in class to work on all projects but they will need to work on them and finish out of class.

Classwork: this would consist of a variety of practice items, such as labs, activities, & homework.

Common Summative Assessment (CSA): this category includes one district final test per trimester.  This is the only assessment that cannot be retaken
