• Welcome to my classroom website

Hello! Here is a little bit about myself: This is my sixth year working as a special education teacher. Prior to Oak View Middle School, I taught in the Mounds View School District at the middle school level for four years and taught English in Taiwan for one year. I attended the University of Minnesota Duluth where I received my Bachelors degree in Elementary Education and Special Education. I grew up in Maple Grove and live in the St. Paul area. Outside of school, I like to read, go on hikes, and travel. I have been to more than 15 countries and want to see more.

I teach Essential Math I, II, and III, Alternative Skills, and am a casemanager. If I have your child in one of the classes, I monitor progress towards their IEP (individual education plan) goals. If I am your child’s casemanager, I plan and attend IEP meetings, organize the process for re-evaluation should it the year it comes due for your child, possibly monitor progress towards their IEP goals, and most importantly, be one of the “go-to” people you or your child can come to with any questions.

I can be reached by phone at 763-506-5647. I am teaching in several different classrooms this year so I may not be able to answer the phone. I can also be reached via email: johanna.sturm@ahschools.us. Email is best. Please allow 24 hours for response. I always try my best to be prompt with calling/emailing parents back.
