    Andover High School Trap and Skeet Club

     

    Join us and be a part of the fastest growing high school sport in Minnesota!

     

    Who is eligible?  Students in grades nine through 12 from Andover High School are eligible to represent Andover our school in the sports of trap, skeet, 5-stand and sporting clays.

     

    When and Where does this take place? Trap and skeet take place at Beaverbrook Gun Club in Cedar.  5-Stand and sporting clays were recently added. 5-Stand takes place at Metro Gun Club in Blaine and sporting clays at Forest Lake Sportsman Club in Forest Lake. 

     

    What does the season look like?  There is a Fall Season and Spring Season.  Each sport is just one night a week, shooting two rounds. Students are encouraged to add more practice on their own if they desire.  

     

    The Fall season runs from approximately Mid-September to late October.  The approximate cost per person is $135 (can vary each year and by sport). Ammo is purchased separately by the athlete's family. 

     

    The Spring season runs from approximately late March to late May. The season ends with an awards banquet and the Alexandria state shoot (which typically takes place in the middle of June). The approximate cost per person is $235 (can vary each year and by sport). Ammo is purchased separately by the athlete's family. 

     

    Do I need experience? No shooting experience necessary; however, firearm safety certification is required. https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/safety/firearms/index.html No tryouts are held; however, space is limited. Trap experience is required to be considered for skeet, 5-stand and sporting clays.

    A little more about us. Supervision and instruction is provided by experienced coaches. Students will compete against other schools from around the state. Participation in the state shoot at the end of the school year provides a chance to advance to the Minnesota State High School League championship. Overall, the club provides an opportunity for students to improve safety and shooting skills, meet new friends and represent Andover High School.
