As the largest school district in the state, we serve approximately 8,000 employees who provide excellent and diverse educational experiences for our 40,000+ students. We also provide point-of-entry services to more than 1,100 prospective employees each year, who are happy to join our great school community.
Employee Services exists to recruit, select, and retain employees with the highest qualifications, diverse backgrounds and experiences, and a passion for teaching and learning. We are accountable to students, parents, and the state and federal governing entities to provide quality educational services through the effectiveness of all our staff.

Staff harassment, violence, or discrimination report form
The Anoka-Hennepin School District prohibits harassment, violence, discrimination and bullying in all forms, including on the basis of a person's actual or perceived race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex/gender (including harassment based on gender identity and expression), marital status, disability, status with regard to public assistance, sexual orientation, age, family care leave status or veteran status.
If you or someone you know has experienced harassment, violence, discrimination, or bullying at school or at any school-related event for any reason, you may make a report to have the incident(s) investigated by the district. Any student, parent/guardian, or district employee may complete this form and return it to any administrator, counselor, or student services advocate.
Alternatively, you may make a verbal or other written report to an administrator, counselor, or student services advocate. Any district employee who receives a completed report form or any other written or verbal report will immediately notify the complaint to the school principal or title IX/equity coordinator of the report, who will designate the person to investigate and resolve the report pursuant to the district's policies and federal and state laws.
The district will not disclose the identity of any individual who makes a report, except to the district personnel designated to investigate the report or as required by law. Retaliation against any individual who makes a report or who participates or assists in an investigation of harassment, violence, discrimination, or bullying is strictly prohibited.

Professional development and CEU opportunities from Community Education
Anoka-Hennepin Community Education offers ongoing professional development opportunities for teachers to meet mandatory state license renewal requirements. Classes will be held virtually using Google Meet. Participants will receive a link two to three days prior to the class start date. Pre-registration is required.
Participants must be visible to the presenter during the session, both for feedback but also to ensure attendance. Attendance will be taken within a Google Form, and the resulting spreadsheet sent to Lisa Norling, Employee Services Dept at the ESC. The Google Form will request the participant's name, employee number, and a question regarding how this session was/will be impactful to the work of the attendee.
Registration closes at noon on the day class is scheduled or until it fills. Classes will be cancelled if the minimum registration of 10 participants is not met. Register online at www.discovercommunityed.com or call the Adult Learning office at 763-506-5766 (Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.)
Anoka-Hennepin Community Education also offers additional CEU opportunities for teachers through our online partner, Ed2Go.
- Classes are available in the areas of classroom computing, languages, mathematics, reading, writing, science, and additional tools for teachers.
- New six-week sessions begin each month.
- Upon completing a course with a passing score, you will receive an Award of Completion that can be printed for approval.
- Please note that it is the responsibility of each licensee to verify acceptance of these courses and to apply for clock hours with the Anoka-Hennepin Continuing Education Committee.

Licensing
PELSB is the state agency responsible for overseeing teacher licensing in Minnesota.
PELSB Responsibilities:
- Develops the teacher's code of ethics.
- Adopts rules for public school teacher licenses and preparation programs.
- Approves teacher preparation programs.
- Issues or denies teacher license applications.
- Suspends or revokes licenses for qualifying reasons.
- Verifies district and charter school license compliance.

Leave of Absence Overview
An employee who is absent from work for a period of ten (10) or more days for the same reason, is required to request approval for the leave of absence.
A leave of absence is a temporary absence from your job for personal or medical reasons. At Anoka-Hennepin, there are various types of leave available, including:
- Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) Leave
- Personal Leave
- Sick Leave
- Bereavement Leave
- Military Leave
- Other Leaves as cited in your negotiated bargaining unit master agreement (e.g., jury duty, sabbatical)
General Process for Requesting a Leave of Absence
- Review Leave Policies: Familiarize yourself with the specific policies and procedures related to the type of leave you are requesting.
- Notify Your Supervisor: Inform your supervisor in writing of your intention to take a leave of absence. Provide as much notice as possible.
- Complete Necessary Forms: Depending on the type of leave, you may need to complete specific forms or documentation. These forms can often be obtained from your HR department.
- Provide Supporting Documentation: You may be required to provide supporting documentation, such as medical certificates or military orders.
- Coordinate with Your Department: Discuss with your supervisor or department head how your work responsibilities will be covered during your absence.

EAP is available at no cost to all Anoka-Hennepin employees and their family members. Optum's master's level counseling staff can help you, your family, or the other significant people in your life. Identify troubling issues, find resources, and learn coping skills or discuss possible plans of action. Your calls and conversations with EAP specialists are kept confidential, in accordance with the law.
