    • Same as 6, 7, 8 ELA with more challenging reading and writing expectations
    • Additional emphasis on interpretive/analytical and critical/evaluative reading, writing and discussion 
    ELA Grade 6
    • Read and describe characteristics of a variety of fiction and nonfiction informational texts, news, editorials, text features, and multiple resources
    • Write frequently in a variety of forms
    • Develop language skills including vocabulary, sentence structure, grammar and mechanics, summarizing, note taking, comparing, contrasting, and classifying
    • Develop skills in speaking, listening, and media literacy

    ELA Grade 7
