• CEMS student is named a 2015 Donaldson Science Award winner

    Junior Anna Bialke was named a 2015 Donaldson Science Award winner. She was nominated by CEMS Staff for her STEM accomplishments. She will receive her award On February 14th at the Science Fusion event taking place at the Science Museum. The purpose of the Science Fusion series is to stimulate youth interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) careers. The Science Fusion events expose youth to real professionals with whom they can identify. She will receive $500 and a free one-year household membership to the Science Museum of Minnesota.

    Blaine High School receives Exxon Mobil educational grant

    Thanks to the efforts of Tony Rammer of Wash-N-Fill Blaine Exxon located at 12880 Central Ave NE, Blaine High School has been awarded a $500 Exxon Mobil Educational Alliance grant to support the CEMS Program. Funded by the Exxon Mobil Corporation, the Educational Alliance program is designed to provide Exxon retailers like Tony with an opportunity to invest in the future of their community through educational grants to neighborhood schools.

    Senior CEMS students advance to semifinals of Global Innovation Challenge

    This year, 133 innovative teams are advancing to the next stage of the competition with the ultimate goal of pitching their products to a live and virtual audience at the 2014 Innovation Summit. Five of those teams are part of the Senior CEMS research class.

    Selected from a pool of 385 entries from 450 schools around the world, the following teams are among the semi-finalist teams advancing to the next round.
    • The Retractables: Oliver Houghtling, Taylor Ward, Madison Rancour, Caleb Butler, and Kjarra Wymore.
    • Lean on Me: Mattilan Martin, Judson Stangler, Allen Bergstedt, Austin Van Tassel, and Jack Ziegler.
    • The Postmasters: Matthew Dereck, Megan Connolly, Jordan Gunerius, and Charles Cummings.
    • Two Temp: Jackie Zoumanigui , Jeremiah Strand, Madelynne Zellman, Craig Boster, and Emma Cherney.
    • The Turbines: Nathaniel Molitor, Sam Legierski, and Cody Deluce.
    Over the next seven weeks, they will develop extensive business and technical plans as well as marketing videos and graphic representations of their products and services. During this phase of the challenge, teams can seek guidance from a network of virtual mentors who are world-renowned scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs.
