• School counselors during distance learning

School counselors collaborate with students, families, community members and school personnel to assure that all students realize and integrate their academic, career and personal/social potential in order to develop and achieve an individualized vision of success.

During distance learning in Anoka-Hennepin, school counselors are committed to supporting students in the following ways:

    • Assessing student abilities, interests and achievements to help them make decisions about their future.
    • Assisting students with academic organization, course planning, study skills, and post-secondary preparation.
    • Helping all students in the areas of academic achievement, personal/social development, and career development.
    • Providing professional assistance and support to students during times of transition, heightened stress, critical change or other situations impeding student success.

School counselors do not provide therapy or long-term counseling in schools; however, school counselors are trained to recognize and respond to student mental health needs and to assist students and families seeking resources.

Students may schedule an appointment with their counselor by leaving a voicemail, sending an email, or completing the appointment request form on the school counselor webpage.  School counselors will provide students and families remote services via Google Mail, Voice, or Hangouts Meet.
