Anoka-Hennepin Community Education provides school-age child care through Adventures Plus, and District Emergency Care under emergency state order.

Understanding that families need to determine child care plans throughout the school year, there are plans in place for all three of the possible learning models as the school district may have to shift how it operates and provides education and child care throughout the year. 

Families that had previously enrolled in Adventures Plus school-age care for the 2020-21 school year may keep that contract in place. Traditional school-year contracts will be placed on hold and there will be no fees charged for that contract if the district is operating in a distance learning or hybrid model. 

Anoka-Hennepin Schools may provide support to Tier I critical workers, under state order, in scenarios two and three. The state identifies the following occupations as Tier I critical workers.

Anoka-Hennepin Schools plans to offer child care support for each scenario.

• In scenario one, following an in-person learning schedule, 2020-21 school year contracts with Adventures Plus will be honored.
  
  
• In scenario two, when the school district is operating under a hybrid learning schedule, Adventures Plus school-age care may provide child care opportunities for families as outlined below. This will require a new registration, which will be opening once the school district has created a new hybrid calendar and shares school day assignments with families.
  
  
• Before- and after-school care will be available to families on their scheduled in-person learning days. Families who are currently enrolled in Adventures Plus for the 2020-21 school year will receive priority.
  
  
• Community Education is hopeful that it will also be able to operate the School-year Adventures Bound program while hybrid learning models are in place, but our staff are ensuring that this decision is in compliance with state health guidance.
  
  
• An executive order from the state of Minnesota requires that school districts prioritize care for Tier I critical workers for full-day child care on distance learning days. Adventures Plus is working with school district administration to determine the possibility of being able to offer full-day programming to additional families based on health and safety guidance provided by the state, and the capacity of school district facilities.
  
  
• In scenario three, when the school district is operating under a distance learning schedule, Adventures Plus school-age care staff will shift programming to provide District Emergency Care - which will be offered to Tier I critical workers.
  
• If and when it is announced that the school district will operate under scenario three, or a distance learning schedule, eligible families may register for care if a family member’s occupation falls into a Tier I critical worker category.
