•  EL Reading and Writing

The Reading and Writing EL classes are divided into two different classes. Two EL classes will appear on the report card. Students will be assessed throughout the courses, and also take district mandated assessments as well as the ACCESS in February. The ACCESS score will be used to determine a student's proficiency level for the next year. This will be determine the classes a student will take.

Practice will be in the areas of reading, writing, listening, and speaking. A variety of activities will be used. For example, we will be reading novels, practice spelling and vocabulary, writing, and reading on-line, and be responsible for speaking in front of groups.

Some of the understandings for the courses include:

       -Sequencing & Compare/Contrast
       -Cause/Effect & Problem/Solution
       -Main Idea & Summarizing
