General ACT Information:
**Community colleges, technical colleges, and private vocational schools generally DON’T require students to take the ACT or SAT. They, however, often require their own placement tests as part of their application. Sometimes they can use your ACT scores in place of their placement tests.**Four year colleges look at ACT scores as part of their admission criteria. If you are intending to apply to a 4 year college, you will want to research the institution's requirements or standards for test scores to see if you meet the requirements with your score. Many students who are planning to attend four year colleges will take the ACT more than once. The upcoming dates and deadlines to apply are below.**Preparing for the ACT: Students were shown information in the Naviance system to help them study for the ACT. The ACT Academy website is also a good source for free test prep resources and questions. ACT has a number of other free options at the bottom of this page. There are other organizations that offer test prep, but they are typically quite costly.**To register for the ACT: If students wish to take the test again, they need to register at www.actstudent.org. Students will register to take at a specific location and will be charged a fee. The fee for the ACT without the writing component is $52 and $68 with the writing. See your counselor if you are eligible for a fee waiver.
