Welcome to Mrs. Maxey Thomas' Page
Hello! My name is Mrs. Rebecca Maxey Thomas. My students call me MM or Mrs. Maxey. I've been teaching American Sign Langauge at Blaine High School since 2001. I began my career teaching ASL at Anoka-Ramsey Community College in 2000 and fell in love with teaching.
Some tidbits about me:
- I'm a late-deafened adult (Deaf since the age of 23)
- I'm actively involved with the Deaf community serving on Minnesota Commission of the Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing board, former Minnesota Association of Deaf Citizens (MADC) board member for 8 years, Minnesota American Sign Language Teachers Association (MNASLTA) board, Opportunity Services board, volunteering for conventions with the National Association of the Deaf (NAD), planning Deaf events, a member of National American Sign Language Teachers Association (ASLTA), and a member of National Association of the Deaf (NAD).
- I reside in Ramsey with my wonderful husband and hearing dog, Jasper
- I'm a foster parent
- I'm a Minnesota native
- I have a Bachelor's degree from St. Cloud State University and a Master's degree from the University of Minnesota
