Monroe Elementary School: Mathematics, Science and Children’s Engineering
-
Monroe Elementary School: Mathematics, Science and Children’s Engineering is an amazing kindergarten through 5th grade specialty school in Brooklyn Park in a highly diverse community. Project Lead the Way Launch allows students to explore engineering, computer programming and science concepts in a fun, engaging and collaborative way.
STEM education encourages students to use creative problem solving strategies to plan and design new technologies using the Engineering Design Process. As engineers, we define technology as a product or process that is designed and created to solve a problem. Students are encouraged to work with others to communicate findings and share results in inquiry based STEM lessons. STEM lessons present students with real world challenges that require students to use higher level thinking skills. Monroe STEM units are integrated into multiple content areas throughout the curriculum.Contact

Monroe Destination Imagination
-
Destination Imagination is another opportunity we offer to 4th and 5th grade students. Destination Imagination (also known as D.I.) creates six new themed challenges each year. Monroe has two teams, one teams works together to creatively solve the technical challenge while the other team works on the structural challenge. Both teams practice throughout the year on team building and problem solving strategies.

Monroe Lego League
-
At Monroe Elementary we offer FIRST Lego League to 4th and 5th grade students. FIRST Lego League is robotic engineering challenge combined with a research presentation focused on the challenge theme created for the FIRST Lego League for that year.
Our 2 Lego League Teams will compete in their annual tournament on Sunday, Dec. 10th! Good Luck!Links to FIRST Lego League information:
