• Varsity Orchestra performs string orchestra repertoire from a variety of cultures and genres. Open to all incoming freshmen, the Varsity musicians learn advanced techniques, including shifting and vibrato, become more independent musicians through an emphasis on theory and note reading, and learn to use the bow in more nuanced and expressive ways. Students are expected to practice and learn their music outside of class, and private lessons are highly encouraged.
